Regional Sales Manager

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for managing and executing the strategies to grow sales and increase market penetration of the company’s steel products within their assigned region. They will lead activities in their region to promote, educate, and train, engineers, owners, and users about the benefits of using the company’s steel products in both public and private sector projects. Additionally the regional sales manager will assist in the technical team’s efforts to obtain approvals and inclusion of the company’s products into applicable public and private design standards within the assigned region. The Regional Sales Manager will be the expert for their region and routinely report matters concerning the sale of company products and other market conditions to management. Finally the Regional Sales Manager will be asked from time to time to support corporate activities outside of their assigned region through the participation in trade shows and industry trade groups or providing training or commercial support to certain customers outside their region.

Responsibilities include:

• Deliver targeted sales revenue for assigned region
• Lead and execute the strategic plan to grow business in both the public and private sectors in their region
• Be a valuable resource to customers, influencers and decision makers with respect to providing information on the benefits and applications of the company’s products
• Maintain positive relationships with all customers in their region and resolve any conflicts that arise
• Organize and execute brand awareness, training, and/or lunch & learn activities with strategic groups or customers
• Participate in tradeshows and industry groups both inside & outside sales region as required
• Prepare and present quotes, sales proposals and work with other company personnel to manage the entire sales process all the way through payment
• Manage complex relationships with large engineering and construction companies
• Manage complex sales project pursuit activities with multiple decision makers
• Bring forward new product opportunities for the application of the company’s steel technologies
• Maintain an ongoing forecast for sales performance within their assigned region
• Provide reporting and status updates of regional activities as required

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
• 5+ years or relevant experience in civil/structural engineering and/or construction industry
• 5+ years of experience in selling technical products
• Experience developing leads into prospects and customers
• Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent assignments utilizing the company’s CRM
• Proven experience in developing and executing strategies for winning complex sales
• Highly customer centric
• Leadership demonstrated both inside and outside of the company
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with equally developed listening skills
• High level of skill presenting product information to technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to travel extensively in assigned region
• A high level of competency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• High level of ethics and integrity, particularly in the face of adversity or ambiguity
